~ Illustration in 2D ~

Task One:

To create two separate book covers (one to feature a chair, the other to feature a tree) in the style of two different artists - one in colour, one in black n’ white, and both to represent a different genre.

During this project I looked at four artists: Harry Clarke, Joseph Crawhall (primarily black n white) Peter Blake and William Nicholson (coloured artists)
My chosen genres were psychological thriller and historical drama. After ‘analysis’ (researching their work, putting it in the style of my inspiration boards) I had decided to narrow my artists down to William Nicholson and Joseph Crawhall as their work is applicable to both themes that I had chosen.

Task Two:

Create an editorial piece for the article “Talk like an Egyptian; mummy’s voice heard 3,000 years after death” by The Guardian
With this topic I approached the subject more literally and wanted to expand a more typical educational setting, with humour as it is a rather deep topic in relation to the scientific experiments and ideologies. with this I would hope to bring the correct target audience to the subject matter, making it more of a challenge for the final design, since I didn’t want to make the piece too childish.
